GRAN CANARIA
It is estimated that the first settlers from Africa arrived on the island about 500 BC. In 1478 a Castilian expedition led by Juan Rejón and dean Bermúdez founded El Real de las Palmas. After five years of confrontations with the aborigines, in 1483 the occupation of the whole island ends.
It is called "The continent in miniature" because of the great differences between the north and the south. According to the University of Syracuse in the United States, it is the city that enjoys the best climate in the world. Mogán is the place in Europe with the most sunny days a year. More than 100 plants are endemic to the island.
It had in 2017 with seven marinas, two of them also fishing. Numerous nautical events are celebrated, including the annual departure of the ARC regatta.
